Pregnant women are required to be conscious of their diets plan and take care in pursuing them. During the state of pregnancy, women should not eat things that are likely to harm the baby. Some food advocates think that pregnant women must increase their diet quantities but the doctors suggest otherwise.
The advice from doctors is that the pregnant woman should consume diet in a balanced manner giving importance to nutritional aspects. As for the choice of foods they should be ones that contain healthy nutrients that are in way harmful to the mom or the baby. Here are tips that will ensure health and strength for the mother and the baby.
• While selecting fruits it is necessary to avoid pine apple as it is rich in bromelain. This bromelain can cause softening of the cervix leading to early labour. If there is an urge for pineapple, it must be taken in moderate form and quantity as then it will have no effect on the timing of labour and the delivery. Intake of juice in heavy quantities will cause the diarrhea’s symptoms that are a threat to the mother and the baby.
• Foods that must be avoided during pregnancy are those that are heavy and difficult to digest. It must be remembered that the state of constipation has to be avoided. Hence stick to easily digestible foods.
•State of fasting is not recommended and should be avoided.
•Uncooked or undercooked foods can be a cause for alarm. It is also recommended that beef and poultry may be not consumed.
•During pregnancy intake of mercury is also forbidden. This means that fish that contains high level of mercury is not to be consumed. However other kind of fish with lower level of mercury can be eaten in moderate quantity.
•As for cheese it can be taken in small quantities. A heavy dose is harmful and care has to be taken to avoid harm to the mother and child.
• In the course of pregnancy the women can take brinjal, suran/yam, papaya, celery, onion, chilly, garlic, ginger, pepper, mustard, bajara, carom seeds but in moderate form. For women who have undergone abortion, even small quantities are not recommended.
