Tanu Weds Manu is a funny entertainment wedding flick filled with light romance that keeps audience engaged and entertained till the end. Directed by Aanand L Rai “Tanu Weds Manu” is beautifully portrayed in small town of urban India through two main characters Manu who is a NRI doctor but is quite wimpy and humdrum and has been enticed for an arrange marriage with an Indian girl that is well played by versatile Madhvan and the Indian girl Tanu is the ravishing and bubbly Kangna Ranaut who this time contrary to her stereotyped aberrant character is playing a dissident, screech mouthing likely bride totally opposite to traditional Indian wife.
The funny twist hits when Manu and his family members land themselves in Kanpur to see the bride Tanu who surprisingly is an unconventional Kanpuriya girl having a different view of female freedom and modernity thus leading a joyous life full of smokes and drinks and is in love with “goonda” Jimmy Sheirgill. The entire fun riddle starts when Manu (Madhvan) gets infatuated with Tanu who other side asks Manu to refuse the marriage but being madly in love Manu does not articulates refusal. This entangles outspoken Tanu to decide between a confined goon lover and a noble NRI doctor…
The whole situation is well presented in light mood comedy that keeps viewers entertaining through humorous scenes switch off and melodious songs along as that “sadi gali” , “piya”, “yun hi” and others.
