Cold Sores: Protect and Home-Treat Your Child

Being a mom is a tough job. Not only you have to be protective about your child, you also have to make sure you are not overdoing it. Cold sores seem to be pretty common these days affecting your child particularly. While there are a lot of home remedies, only a few of them actually work. I provide you with a list of a few sure-to-work home remedies for your child.

1. Apply ice on the sore as soon as it comes out

Wrap an ice cube in a thin cloth and place it on the sore where it hurts. Do it 3 – 4 times in a day. The ice will prevent the sore from coming out completely and nip it.

2. Benefits of aloe vera are plenty

Aloe vera is the most skin friendly plant that has a number of medicinal advantages. What you have to do is take out the aloe vera juice from its leaf and apply it on the sore. Do it a few times in a day. Hopefully the sore will be gone within a couple of days.

3. Vitamin B supplements

Vitamin B supplements have been known to do a great deal in getting rid of cold sores. Give your child food that is rich in vitamin B such as meat, fish, spinach, green peas, broccoli and peanuts etc.

4. Coconut oil can also be beneficial for cold sores

What you have to do is mix 100 ml of coconut oil, 3ml of carbolic acid and 2 ml of dettol. Apply it on the cold sore twice a day. This mixture can also be used for mosquito bites and boils.

5. Tea Tree Oil

Tea Tree Oil is another wonderful and one of the best home remedies for cold sores.  Mix tea tree oil with ginger powder and a couple of sage leaves and boil. Drink this concoction 2 – 3 times in a day.

Cold sores are contagious and your child can easily catch them from his friends, so a little precaution on your part is required. Protect your child and try the home-remedies if he gets the cold sores.
