Sanam Chaudhri at Fashion Pakistan Week 2010

The culmination of Sanam Chaudhri’s at the Pakistan Fashion Week 2 was her inspiration from her recent trip to Indonesia; where she was inspired to integrate the country’s local craftsmanship into silhouettes indigenous to South-East Asia. ‘Fusion’ sung an old tune with a modern twist.
To accomplish this, Sanam Chaudhri revisited a process; she paid homage to in her senior college thesis – the craft of resist dying. The collection of Sanam Chaudhri featured the pieces dyed both chemically and natural. Some was patterned with the use of wax, starch and running stitch. As a result, each piece represented its uniqueness and could not be wholly replicated.
While creating her collection she also gained inspiration from the rich tribal textiles of Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Mali. Sanam Chaudhri’s pieces also incorporated the intricate thread, shell and beadwork of Laos, Cambodia, Java and Bali’s rustic locals. Hence the line’s name Fusion!
