Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design held its first ever Convocation on the 19th of December 2013 at the Expo Center Lahore. Governor Punjab Ch Muhammad Sarwar presided the ceremony along with Acting Vice Chancellor of PIFD Prof Hina Tayyaba. Other dignitaries present at the event were Mr Khurram Dastighir, Nayyar Ali Dadda, Mr Imtiaz Gillani of the HEC, Hassan Sheryar Yasin, Mrs Collen David, and many others from the Education and Fashion fraternity.
The prestigious event being a thorough success, with the opening speech by the Vice-chancellor of PIFD stating her effort of establishing the first of its kind Fashion Institute in Pakistan and the strenuous task of making it a Federally Chartered Degree awarding Institute from a mere school.
Degrees were awarded to 421 graduation students from the departments of Fashion Design, Textile design, Fashion Marketing and Merchandising, Jewelry Design and Accessories.Gold Medals were awarded to Ms Sara Azam Khan (Gems & Jewelry) and Ms. Saira Fatima Sadozai (FashiPon Design) from the batch of 2008-2012. Students receiving the Rolls of Honor included Ms. Sara Azam khan, Ms. Anka Naeem, Ms. Nimrah Muzamil (Gems & jewelry) and Ms. Saira Fatima Sadozai (Fashion Design).
