H&M India celebrated the launch of their Conscious Exclusive 2017 Collection at High Street Phoenix, Mumbai.
H&M launched the Conscious Exclusive 2017 Collection at their store at High Street Phoenix, Mumbai. The brand hosted a glamorous breakfast with fashion influencer, Roohi Jaikishan to introduce their premium, sustainable line. Guests including, Bijal Meswani, Haseena Jethmalani, Farah Oomerbhoy, Nayantara Thacker, Priya Aswani, Anandita De, Arundhati De, Avanti Birla, Tasneem Mehta, Pratima Bhatia, Shenaz Treasurywala attended the event.
Singer Kanika Kapoor and supermodel Kanishtha Dhankar were seen dressed in beautiful and summer-ready outfits from the collection. The brand’s sustainability efforts and the ongoing garment collect initiative urged patrons to join in the movement for a circular fashion future.
The new H&M Conscious Exclusive collection includes the pioneering sustainable material BIONIC® – recycled polyester made from plastic shoreline waste. Used in an intricate, pleated gown as worn by face of the campaign, model, Natalia Vodianova, the label showcases how H&M is committed to sustainable fashion for red carpet moments as well as a chic, everyday wardrobe.
Conscious Exclusive is a driver in H&M’s move towards a more sustainable fashion future. Since the start of the global Garment Collecting initiative in 2013, the H&M group has collected 39,000 tonnes of unwanted textiles.
By 2020 the company aims to collect at least 25,000 tonnes of textiles every year. In 2016, 96% of the company’s global electricity in its own operations came from renewable sources. The Sustainability report also mentions that H&M in 2016 was named the biggest global user of cotton certified by the Better Cotton Initiative.
H&M is the second largest user of recycled polyester in the world, using recycled polyester equivalent to more than 180 million PET bottles in 2016. Their goal is to use 100% sustainably sourced cotton by 2020, 100% recycled or other sustainably sourced material by 2030, and become climate positive throughout its entire value chain by 2040.
