Miss Congeniality on the rise!

Aishwarya Rai and Priyanka Chopra. Extreme political correctness in the Hindi film industry is no longer associated with beauty pageant winners. Towering young model-turned-actresses are smoothly taking over. We deliberated on who should be awarded the title of Miss Congeniality in Bollywood, and the actress who won hands down was Deepika Padukone.
Deepika has bagged fame for just for her films, but her eventful personal life. Right from her modelling days, the girl has flaunted one hot boyfriend after another — from Upen Patel and Nihar Pandya, Yuvraj Singh to current Ranbir Kapoor. The girl is a media favourite. She has constantly been in the public eye for her past and present relationships as well as alleged catfights and controversies. All of 22, the actress has learnt to deal with popularity and its repercussions with finesse. Recently, Deepika was spotted on a secret date with one time live-in partner Nihar, while current beau Ranbir was out of town. What next? Tongues wagged, of course. What did dear Deeps have to say about this? “No comment,” she said, flashing those dimples. Moving on to her reportedly vowing to never work with Ranbir again. “It’s not true at all. At the end of the day, we’re actors and like to work together. At the same time, we won’t do a film just for the heck of it,” she said graciously.
Ranbir’s cousin Kareena’s displeasure at her being cast in mentor Imtiyaz Ali’s next was made evident at the Filmfare Awards this year. The media tried to get her in a tricky situation over that too. The screen name ‘Shanti’ may have helped her polish those peacekeeping skills. Watch her squeeze out of this one.
