LUMS being Paindo for a day!

The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) celebrated the culture and traditions of Punjab with a laughter-packed, fun-filled Paindo Day!

Boys donned colorful dhotis and lungis, while girls were flashing in bright makeovers, parandas and traditional shalwar kameez to portray the culture of Punjabi villages. They danced to merrylicious music of dholki in full regalia and many flaunted their Punjabi language skills. The mood was totally humorous

Different scenarios of village life in the Punjab were depicted and a marriage dhamal was conducted by students in various parts of the campus. Enthusiastic students shared different views about Punjabi culture and the event.

Ali Ahmad, dressed as a Chaudhry with fake mustaches said, “We don’t want to keep our brothers out of all the fun. This event is about brotherhood and humor.” Hussain, another student dressed in a lunghi said, “Punjab is full of diverse cultures. We care about our traditions and where we come from. This is a celebration of the spirit of Punjab.”

It’s good to hear that Pakistani youth and people still care about their traditional roots and culture. The event broadcasted the message of cultural respect. No matter, how far we may develop; we’ll still remain connected to our roots!
