Kannada Singer LN Shastri Passed Away

Popular Kannada playback singer and music composer L.N. Shastri died on Wednesday at his residence here due to cancer. He was 46.

“Shastri’s demise is a great loss to the Kannada film industry,” singer Vijay Prakash, who had worked with Shastri, told a Kannada news channel. Shastri passed away at his home in Nagarbhavi area. He is survived by his wife Suma Shastri, also a singer. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his condolences. “The news of the death of L.N. Shastri brings me a lot of pain,” he said in a statement.

The talented play back singer-music composer started his career with Ajagajantara in 1991. Shastri was most known for his hit song “Kolumande Jangamadevaru” from the movie “Janumada Jodi” (1996).  This particular song became a major hit among critics and masses alike. He won the Karnataka State award for the same. Starting his career in 1991, Shastri has snag more than 3000 songs.

Mid-day into his career, LN Shastri rechristened himself to Chaitanya but since fans couldn’t associate with the singer-composer’s new name, he went back to his original name with Bellary Naga. In the past the singer has collaborated with Hamsalekha and V Manohar. He has even worked with Crazy Star V Ravichandran, as per reports on Deccan Chronicle. The singer is surived by his wife, Suma who sang about 50 songs in her career.
