Hassan Sheheryar is best known as "New King of the Couture" for combining contemporary silhouettes with the traditional techniques of old. The designer is known for emerging Middle Eastern with Western influences.
HSY is the fashion force behind the label and has a strong presence in fashion industry. Hassan is also one of the founding members of the PFDC and has won awards including ‘Designer of the Year’, Ahlan Fashion and Lifestyle awards, the Lux Style Award, the Most Stylish Fashion Icon at the MTV Style Awards and Style Guru of the Year by Indus Style Awards.
Where were you born? Date of birth? Born in Lahore on 27th October.
A few reasons why you chose to do this? (Your Occupation) Fashion has always been a passion and pursuit from my childhood. My first formal introduction was in 1994, and there’s been no looking back. In 2014 I am celebrating my 20th year in fashion, as a couturier, show director, event architect, and choreographer and I could not be happier.
Did you face any early criticism?
Yes, a lot actually! I took constructive criticism in a positive manner to evolve and grow to where I am today.
If you weren’t this, what profession would you be in?
Perhaps a marketing mentor?
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
My inspirations come from the positive people around me, from music and from my travels across the world.
How would you describe your personality? How would your friends describe you?
I am happy-go-lucky yet ambitious and I think my friends would describe me just the same.
Which is your favorite holiday destination?
New York.
What do you hate the most?
Unprofessionalism.
What do you love the most?
I love my work. My life revolves around my work and it is an extension of me in every way.
What is your idea of a perfect adventure?
Traveling to new and exotic locations

What would be your ideal woman? Traits and characteristics.
Somebody with the drama and beauty of Reema Khan, and the elegance of Mehreen Syed and Tahira Syed.
A colour that is safe for every bride?
I think ‘Red’ is always a lovely and traditional colour, as this colour indicates vibrancy and health and has over time been traditionally associated with brides.
What does your next bridal collection feature in terms of fabrics and styles? Chiffons, a break away from silver embellishment and a focus on dull gold embroidery, custom prints, lots of layering rich fabrics
The biggest thing for HSY this year has been?
2014 marks my 20 years in fashion – that to me is extremely momentous.
According to you, heavier women must never wear…
Perhaps better to steer clear of body hugging clothes as they tend to be unforgiving – stripes also tend to make one look larger.
What is your favorite style quote?
Fashion fades, but only style remains the same.
Who is your fashion guru?
Elie Saab. What makes him the premier designer of our time is his extraordinary ability to combine style texture, cut and color. Like all great artists, he makes elegance look easy.
