Hassan Waqas Rana, the notorious producer of Waar (As a former faculty member at Bahria University Islamabad he got exposed in a laptop scam and he also was unable to produce his PhD degrees). Pakistan’s record breaking film on the war against terror, is wanted by the police in a case filed against him by the director of the film, Bilal Lashari.
Through his counsels Haq Nawaz Baloch and Rab Nawaz Baloch, Lashari had lodged a criminal case under Section 406 of the PPC on June 21 at the Kohsar police station accusing Rana of depriving him of 25% of the profit from Waar, against terms of an agreement between the two.
Rana got a pre-arrest bail from the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Sikandar Khan on June 23. On Sept 24, ADS&J Raja Khurram Ali Khan dismissed the bail and ordered for the arrest of the suspect, who has sincr then gone into hiding and police were looking for him.
Moreover, during the course of proceedings Rana presented a medical certificate which was upon verification proved to be forged/fabricated and a second case was registered against him in the Margalla police station under sections 420, 468, 471 of the PPC.
Rana got a pre-arrest bail in this case also, while the next date of the hearing is Sept 29.
In the initial FIR filed with the Kohsar police, Lashari stated that he was Rana’s partner in the film but he deposited over Rs. 150 million in his account, refusing to share any part of the earnings with the director.
According to Lashari, the film was made with Rs60 million and did a blockbuster business of Rs250 million. As per an agreement between the two, Rana was to share 25% profit with the director.

After providing full time and dedicated services of direction, cinematography and editing without pay for over 3 years, Lashari found out after film’s enormous success that Rana had got all the payment transferred in another account and then also stopped taking his calls, which was why he ended up lodging an FIR against Rana along with all the proofs.
