After announcing the upcoming release of Pakistan’s first HD Urdu language animated feature film titled ‘3 Bahadur’ and launching a series of short documentaries titled ‘I Heart Karachi’, which chronicles
the individuals who put their lives at risk in the line of duty for others, Karachi based production house SOC Films proudly announce their latest collaborative effort, a joint venture with ARY Films, Waadi Animations.
Waadi Animations will be producing animated content only including feature films, short films, animated TV series and commercials. The first film of Waadi Animations i.e. ‘3 Bahadur’ is already in production phase and is targeted for release in summer 2015.
3 Bahadur is a quintessentially Pakistani story – replete with unlikely heroes, menacing villains, fumbling thugs, dark horses, moments of triumph and bouts of despair. Packed with action, comedy and heart rendering moments, the film is set to redirect the trajectory of animated content by prioritizing storytelling, nuanced visuals and detailed driven animation.
As announced earlier this year during ARY Films Award 2014, 3 Bahadur will be Pakistan’s first animated full-length super hero film that aims to empower and motivate today’s youth through dynamic 3D animation and an engaging story telling format. Based in a fictional town in Pakistan, eleven year old Amna, Saadi and Kamil set out to save their community from the many evils that plague it. The film is a journey of fighting back, taking charge, and finding support and love in the most improbable of places.
Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy will be taking on the role of the Chief Executive of Waadi Animations, heading the overall creative spectrum of the different projects pursued by the company. ARY Films will be extending its expertise in the areas of marketing, distribution and production as well.
Speaking about Waadi Animations, Film and TV Director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy said, “We have such a talented group of animators in Pakistan, I am excited to share their creativity with the rest of the world! This partnership will allow us to create animated super heroes and heroines that will no doubt make us laugh and cry and most importantly entertain us all. We all have an inner child and at Waadi animations we will endeavor to always nurture the imaginations of that child!”
“In the past couple of years, Pakistan has shown immense talent as far as movie making is concerned. However, I believe that we have an equally strong and resilient animation development resource. We have to bring them in the mainstream movie circuit and deliver the goods to a huge population of young cinema enthusiasts still hooked on to international animated movies because we don’t make our own. I am pretty confident that this will start a new era of animated films in Pakistan and help in expanding the market here.” said Mr. Salman Iqbal, Founder & President, ARY Digital Network.
3 Bahadur is set to launch in the summer of 2015.
