Eid ul Azha is the great religious festival of the Muslims which is celebrated after Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). The religious festival is celebrated every year in the month of Zil Hajj in order to commemorate the faith and devotion of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) to Allah. He was the Prophet who was ready to sacrifice his son for the sake of God and did not feel fear of this sacrifice. His son Prophet Ismail (A.S) was also firmed to get sacrificed for God’s will.
This is the ultimate lesson of devotion and obedience for the entire Muslim world. Muslims are fortunate that Allah sent a lamb to Prophet Ibrahim for sacrifice and thus all the Muslims offer sacrifice of goat, sheep, lamb, camel, cow and other domestic animals on eid ul Azha.
The celebrations of Eid ul Azha continues for 1st, 2nd and 3rd day as well. The aim of celebrating eid ul azha is to feel for the poor and needy. The meat should be distributed among the poor who could not afford it throughout the year. The 3rd day of eid ul azha is celebrated with eating, sleeping, traveling and merry making.
3rd day sacrifice: People with high socio-economic status offer sacrifice of more than one animal. They usually brought all variety of animals like goat, cow, sheep, buffalo, camel etc that are halal for sacrifice. On the 3rd day of eid ul azha, the sacrifice of the animal must be offered before the sun rise. It is according to Islamic teachings that the 3rd day animal must be sacrificed before the sun rise and the meat should be distributed according to Islamic criteria. All the three days are eligible for the sacrifice so that is why the 3rd day of eid ul azha also be celebrated like 1st day.
Feasts: Feasts are considered as the important characteristic of eid ul azha without which the celebrations seem dull and boring. 3rd day of eid ul azha is all about eating, laughing, gossips and visits. Muslims after offering the sacrifice of their animal-get prepared for to visit their relatives, friends and loved ones. The day is celebrated by cooking various meat oriented dishes. Some special dishes are Siri paye, mutton karai, mutton biryani, beef kabab, steamed champs etc. All the delicious food makes the 3rd day of eid ul azha more enjoyable for everyone.
Kids and youngsters seems busy in trying new dishes consist of mutton and beef. They plan special barbeque for their friends at the roof top and spend whole the night in eating and merry making. Eid ul Azha is then definitely becomes the great blessing of Allah Almighty that gives us the opportunity to spend time with our loved ones and celebrates the day whole heartedly. The sweet dishes not only make our taste sweet but also symbolize the happiness of the day. This makes everyone proud to be a Muslim and we should thank to Allah Almighty that we are born in Muslim families.
Traveling and picnics: As eid brings happiness with itself so the Muslims went to meet their loved ones living out of station. They plan picnics and parties on 3rd day of eid ul azha to amuse themselves. Some went to cinemas in groups to enjoy and spend time. There is great hustle and bustle in the parks and picnic points on 3rd day of eid ul azha. Bus and railway stations are full with the crowd of passengers who want to travel to meet their relatives on 3rd day of eid ul azha.
Special meals have been cooked for the way that is delicious and some are spicy as well. Kids enjoy more because they usually love to travel all the time. Some people prefer to visit hilly areas in order to release their stress. They want to get a break from their hectic routine and thus prefer some hilly area to visit with their family and friends.
