Bashir Ahmad, a professional Muay Thai and Mixed Martial Arts Fighter, is representing Pakistan at the One Fighting Championship [ONE FC] in Singapore on April 5th, 2013. The event will take place at the Singapore INDOOR Arena, with top fighters from Asia and all over the world participating. Bashir is COO of the Pak Fight Club and President of the Mixed Martial Arts Association of Pakistan.
To make this announcement officially, a press conference was held for the same in Lahore, at The LOUNGE by Depilex Men, where Bashir Ahmad performed an open work-out with a ‘friendly’ opponent for the benefit of media, to help them understand his fighting style and what Mixed Martial Arts [MMA] constitutes as a sport.
Other mixed martial arts enthusiasts such as Toni & Guy’s Shammal Qureshi and musician DJ Shahrukh [Shahrukh Sheikh] were also present at the event to talk about Bashir as an athlete and their own love for the hardcore sport.
ONE FC is Asia’s largest MMA organization, and Bashir is proud to be representing his native country on this global platform. Regarding his upcoming fight and the opponent he’ll be facing, Bashir Ahmad says “I face the first real challenge in MMA against my opponent Shannon “Oneshin” Cai at the ONE Fighting Championship on April 5th in Singapore. I am honoured to fight an upcomer like him, who is a class act to boot. Pakistan pray that I do not injure my opponent. I must do what I need to do to win, but let’s wish for a quick, painless, yet crushing defeat.

Beyond victory over his opponent, Bashir wants this fight to be a moment where Pakistan as a nation can be represented in a positive light. “Everyone keeps telling me to remember that this is about me. This fight is mine. Focus on myself. They are correct on one level, but to forget about the feelings in my heart for the soil beneath my feet and focus on this fight as if I am the only one in that cage is wrong.
I am not the only one in that cage and that is why I will win. I have with me the hearts of 180 million people who deserve to have pride in their nation – pride that is being squashed by politics and hatred. This fight is for you Pakistan!” says Bashir.
Aside form being a hardcore fighter, Bashir also has a softer side. He recently spoke about “Believing in Dreams” at TEDx LACAS in Lahore, which proved to be an inspirational address to students.
