[0]-The Lollywood Art Project Logo [F]Following up on the success of  The Citizens Archive of Pakistan (CAP) and Routes 2 Roots (R2R) Exchange for Change 2012 – 2013, The Citizens Archive of Pakistan in collaboration with Port Grand launch The Lollywood Art Project which highlights the history and legacy of the rich Pakistani Lollywood culture through live painting and an exhibition at Port Grand on Saturday the 26th and Sunday, the 27th of January 2013 from 6pm – 10pm.

Furthering their aim of providing a cultural, educational and heritage platform to Pakistani’s, allowing them to express and explore their heritage and history, The Lollywood Art project involves students from across Karachi and a master painter in creating old fashioned, hand painted billboards.

On the launch of the program, Swaleha Alam Shahzada, Executive Director of CAP said “The Lollywood Art Project aims to revive the lost Lollywood memories and provide Karachi with visual elements that reflect our art and culture. The project framework seeks to provide a dynamic and innovative piece of public art that can educate and invoke nostalgia for the viewing public. It also involves the preservation and transfer of artistic skill and the revival of local film industry art within students.”

Indeed, CAP serves as the first ever private initiative to collect, archive, study, disseminate and exhibit all aspects of Pakistan’s history – both before and after partition. CAP aspires to develop as the foremost museum of Pakistani history, art, photography, culture, literature and historical documentation, demonstrating the strength and spirit of Pakistan from the Citizen’s perspective.
