Canvas Gallery, one of Karachi’s most prestigious contemporary art galleries is hosting an exhibition of Krizmah bags. The event is based on showcasing the latest Secret Garden collection by Krizmah , which is the second collection launched by the Lahore-based brand the previous collection titled “Legend” was based on popular myths which are oft repeated in Chitral and are stories well known in the valley.
The exhibition will be held at Canvas Gallery , F 50 / A , Block 4 , Clifton , Karachi , on Friday the 19th of October 2012 , from 5 pm – 8 pm and will continue through on Saturday the 20th of October 2012 from 11 am – 8 pm.
The incorporation of original artworks into a craft based product interested the Director of Canvas Gallery, Sameera Raja in showcasing Krizmah bags.
The collection is based on exquisitely embroidered bags finished in fine leather with Italian accessories.
“Our current collection is based on the idea of a ‘Secret Garden’ within each of us, and each bag is named after elements that play a role in our lives at different stages. Drawing inspiration from these key elements, we have come up with unique designs, framing them with luxurious leather trimmings and italian accessories,” said Zainab Ulmulk, co-founder of Krizmah bags.
Krizmah is a collaboration between two Lahore-based graphic designers Zainab Ulmulk and Nadia Malik.
“This is Krizmah’s debut exhibition in Karachi, whereas we have had retailed our work in Lahore, Islamabad, London & Dubai in the previous year.” says Nadia Malik, designer and co – owner of Krizmah.
“Krizmah was launched out of a desire not only to revive traditional craft of Chitrali embroidery, and present it on both a local and international platform, but also to empower women from the area to fulfill their dreams and aspirations of a better future for themselves and their families.” Zainab Ulmulk, co – owner, Krizmah.
Krizmah’s last exhibition was held at the Argentinean Embassy in Islamabad and was a huge success with socialites, fashionistas and art lovers turning out in huge numbers to pick up the unique bags. Krizmah has also held previous exhibitions in Lahore, Islamabad, Dubai and London.
The Canvas Gallery exhibition will be held on 19th of October from 5 pm to 8 pm while it will be a full day exhibition on 20th October.
