Saira Rizwan, known for her ability to produce stunning designs which are a perfect amalgamation of traditional and contemporary designs, will be participating in the upcoming Bridal Couture Week 2012 organized by Style 360 and being held in Lahore in October. This will be the second time that Saira Rizwan will be participating in BCW.
The first time around was last year when she showcased her stunning Jahan collection, which was inspired by the Mughal era and based on an ivory palette embellished with vibrant and bright embroideries and patterns. The Jahan collection was a celebration of the past and a merging of yesterday’s traditions with today’s contemporary values.
“I had a really great time participating in Bridal Couture Week 2012 last year, and it was great to see the response my collection received and how everyone remembered the collection and referred to it for months afterwards,” said Saira Rizwan.
Saira Rizwan’s collection for the upcoming Bridal Couture Week 2012 is a complete diversion from her previous collection. While the 2011 bridal and formal collection was a celebration of Mughal decadence and Indian opulence of years passed, this year’s collection is inspired from Persia.“I am an eastern girl at heart,” said Saira Rizwan, when describing the inspirations behind her various collections. “I enjoy working with inspirations and ideas which hail from the East.”
For now, it seems as if Saira Rizwan is taking a journey through the East what with the Persian inspired collection of formals and bridals and her Moroccan inspired collection of prêt.
“All my collections have been based on varied influences be it screen prints from Morocco or miniature paintings from Persia or the opulence of the Mughal era.” She was tempted to develop a collection based on the rich traditions of Persia when she was reading about Persian literature and art.
“The focus of my collection is Queen Easter of Persia, which is why this collection has a rich and royal feel to it,” said Saira Rizwan. “I have put special emphasis on the flow and fall of the fabrics used and the contemporary twist to traditional cuts.”
The color palette for this collection is rich and unique, and based on tones of emerald, sapphire and gold. Even the fabric for this collection has been customized and created in-house.
The Bridal Couture Week is one of the largest bridal events of the year, and is regularly arranged by Style 360 and HUM TV. Other illustrious designers who are participating in this exhibition are Ayesha & Somaya, Hajra Hayat and Maria B. Over the years almost all renowned and established bridal designers from Pakistan have participated in this event.
“BCW reaches out to the masses and the kind of television coverage and media mileage we get through this event is truly spectacular,” said Saira Rizwan. “The event is always very professionally done and the ambience and décor of the event is rather grand.”
