In this post, I am sharing with you all do-it-yourself banana hair masks for dry and dull hair. If you dry and dull hair and want to try a home remedy, do read on for more details.

Causes of Dry and Dull Hair:

There are several reasons for dry and dull hair like deficiency of vitamins, unhealthy eating habits, lack of nutrition, lack of moisture, not drinking enough water, washing hair with hot water, blow drying, coloring, etc. Chemically treated hair tends to become dry and dull over a period of time. Exposure to very hot or very cold weather can make hair dry and dull. Not taking proper care of hair using the wrong hair products can also lead to hair drying and dulling. Pollution, stress, exposure to the sun, ultraviolet rays, air conditioners can also make hair dull and dry.

Benefits of Banana Hair Mask:

Banana is loaded with moisture and can provide ample hydration to your hair. It is rich in potassium, antioxidants, vitamin C, vitamin B6, magnesium, and protein, which can nourish and restore your hair back to health. A banana hair mask helps to deep condition hair and hydrate each and every strand. It makes hair soft, silky, and shiny. It also aids hair growth. It helps to tame frizzy hair. Reduces split ends, adding elasticity and manageability. Helps get rid of dandruff and scalp dryness. The banana hair mask is incredibly moisturizing and one of the best remedies for dry and dull hair!

Ingredients Required To Prepare Banana Hair Mask:

One ripe banana ( You can use two ripe bananas if you have long hair) One tablespoon olive oil ( I have used extra virgin olive oil) One tablespoon almond oil ( I have used Forest Essentials cold-pressed organic virgin almond oil) One tablespoon honey (I have used organic honey from Kottakal Ayurveda) Two tablespoons full-fat milk (You can use one tablespoon cream or two tablespoons fresh coconut milk instead of full-fat milk. I have used full fat but toned milk). One full egg (I have used farm egg) Please note that the above measurements are for a shoulder to mid-length hair, however, if you have long hair, you can use two ripe bananas and accordingly increase the quantity of one tablespoon honey and almond or olive oil to two tablespoons. My hair is shoulder length and this mask is more than enough for me. If you want to make the consistency of the mask a bit thicker, add cream instead of milk or just add one tablespoon of milk. I have also shown the tablespoon I have used in my pictures.

How To Prepare Banana Hair Mask:

Step 1: Assemble all the ingredients required, so that you do not miss out on anything. Step 2: In a bowl or a soup plate, take one ripe banana and slice it into small pieces. Then using a fork, mash the banana nicely to make a purée. Step 3: To this banana purée, add one egg white and yolk, add one tablespoon honey, one tablespoon olive oil, one tablespoon almond oil, two tablespoons spoons full-fat milk.
Step 4: Blend all the ingredients nicely and make sure no chunks are left. Your hair mask is ready to apply.

How To Apply Banana Hair Mask:

Partition your hair nicely and start applying the mask from roots and work towards the strands. Try to apply on all the strands and make sure you have applied all over your scalp and hair. You can tie your hair into a loose bun or clip it up with a banana clip. Some of the masks may leak from your hair strands, for this, you can use a shower cap to cover your hair after applying the mask. Then cover your head with an old towel for additional warmth and protection. You can leave this mask on your hair for fifteen to thirty minutes. Rinse your hair thoroughly with lukewarm water. Follow up with a mild shampoo to cleanse your hair nicely. I prefer to use a mild / scalp shampoo without sulfate to wash my hair, after this mask. You can skip using conditioner since your hair is already preconditioned. Let your hair dry naturally and touch them to feel the difference. You can use this mask once or twice a week.
