5 Easy Ways to Remove Mehndi at Home

Desi weddings all over the world are all time fun. A wedding in Pakistan is incomplete without dholkis parties, Henna applying on hands and feet, tons of amazing food, coordinated dance practices and of course, family gatherings.

Mehndi function is one of integral parts of eastern wedding culture. The traditional event is held a few days before the main wedding ceremony and was traditionally held separately for the bride and the groom. Mehndi is a ceremony that is named after henna, a dye prepared from the Lawsonia inermis plant which is mixed into a paste form to apply onto the hands of the bride and groom.

Here are some of the easy to do tips for removing the faded Mehndi stains from your hands and feet at home:

Saltwater:

Mix salt with water to form a solution. Now, dip your hand in it and leave it in for 20-30 minutes, and then rub it dry.

Olive Oil

Dip cotton in olive oil and wipe it across the henna painted area. To make the process go faster, mix a little salt in the oil before dipping the cotton ball. Leave the oil on for 10-15 minutes and wipe it dry.

Toothpaste: 

Fix Chapped Lips without using a ChapstickAnother quick method to get rid of henna, is to apply toothpaste on your hand, and rub it before washing it off with cold water. You will see the color has become lighter than before.

Baking soda and lemon: 

Simple mix baking soda with lemon to make a thick paste, then apply it on your hands and let it dry for a few minutes before removing it with cold water.

Warm water: 

Dip your hands in a bowl full of warm water for few minutes then rub your skin till is dry. Repeat the process several times.
